Nicole Ari Parker is an American stage and film actor who was famous for her portrayal as the spirited lawyer Teri Joseph on the Showtime series Soul Food. Following her marriage the actress is now known for her role as Nikki Kodjoe. As a child within Baltimore, Maryland, she was always fascinated by acting. In the Maryland high school event at the beginning of her education she received the award for the best actress. After working in theater and with 'The Washington Ballet Company' she received a master's certificate in acting from New York University. Her debut role in The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love fetched the most admiration. In the following years, she was a star in films such as "Boogie Nights Spark" and "Blue Streak". The TV series Soul Food' was immensely well-received. She appeared in TV programs such as Second Time Around, and Empire. She appeared on stage in several productions early in her career. Parker who has a keen passion for politics and is married to model/actress Boris Kodjoe. The couple has two kids.

Born in Mumbai, India and raised in Nigeria up to 7 years old, Contractor was well-versed in traveling around the globe and in a wide range of cultures at a very young age. She was a boarding student in London between the ages of seven and nine years old, then her family relocated to Toronto, Canada, where she spent the majority of her youth and early adulthood. Then, in Toronto, Contractor excelled in academics and trained as ballet dancer of classical training. She was a student at the Etobicoke School of the Arts - a specialized arts high school where she was able to study more than just dance but also drama. Contractor decided to take acting more seriously at age of 16, after ten years of dancing. After she completed high school with an all-inclusive tuition grant to the University of Toronto where she pursued theatre studies with a double diploma in sociology and psychology. After one year at University, Contractor went to an audition on a call-to-action basis for the production Pericles at the world-class and renowned Stratford Shakespeare Festival [Ontario, Canada and was offered the lead role. The play was well-received for the 92 shows that she performed in. She was awarded the 2002 award for the best production of the Year by Canadian Critics. She was given the chance to join Stratford Conservatory. It accepts only eight men and four women to take a course in classical theatre. Contractor was ecstatically accepted. Her place was guaranteed during the upcoming season of shows as she was offered the part for the role of Hermia A Midsummer Night's Dream.
